ABOUT FUTURA

FUTURA (born Leonard Hilton McGurr, 1955, New York) is a renowned abstract painter and pioneering graffiti artist of the 1970s. His innovative style combines text, images, aerosol lines, bright colors and white space. In the 1980s, along with fellow artists Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf, Futura began exhibiting his work on canvas in prominent art galleries. Inspired by science fiction and computer science, his dynamic compositions have been exhibited in prestigious institutions such as the New Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Futura's collaborations with major fashion brands such as Supreme, Comme des Garçons, Nike and Off-White are a testament to his influence and reach in the art world.
