Keith Haring

Keith Haring is an American artist whose work was hugely successful in New York in the 1980s. His art, largely inspired by graffiti and pop art, makes energetic silhouettes of all colors dance and creates a unique aesthetic that is immediately recognizable.
The Keith Haring Foundation is committed to passing on his extraordinary legacy to future generations through events, exhibitions and collaborations, the proceeds of which support two causes dear to the artist's heart: child protection and the fight against HIV.

ART IS FOR EVERYONE.

We had the chance to have coffee with some of the artist's closest friends. They told us about the New York of the 80's, and the impact his art had.

Jean-Charles de castelbajac

We met with haute couture designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac at the Brach Hotel in Paris. He tells us about the strong links between art, music and fashion in the New York of the 80s, and how this fusion of the three became an art form in its own right.

testimony

"I remember Keith Haring walking into my office in 1986. I remember him changing my life in a minute. He changed a lot of people's lives at that time."

MARIPOL

We also interviewed Maripol - also known as the Polaroid Queen - who told us about the electric New York of the 80s and its vibrant, sassy energy. She also describes how Keith Haring's art embellished those difficult years.

testimony

"Crack, AIDS and racism had devastated the youth. Keith Haring had brought his art and his message, and it was fantastic. Seeing his impact makes us smile, makes us happy, and most importantly makes us aware."
